So we decided 2 days ago that we would go visit Big L's family in MN. We left Saturday afternoon around 12:45 for the 13 hour, 2 day trip. If you think that sounds bad....... IT WAS! DON'T DO IT! EVER! The boys did amazingly well, knock on wood. They slept for about an hour, and watched movies on their new car DVD system that has a dual screen for each head rest, pretty amazing!
We all started to get a little hungry around 4 since we had failed to eat lunch prior to leaving the house, mistake number one (of about 2,000). I look at my GPS (a WONDERFUL gift from my husband) and search through the restaurant listings. PANDA EXPRESS! THERE WAS A PANDA EXPRESS, AND IT WAS LESS THEN 45 MIN. AWAY! I think Big L may have wet his pants a little. So of course we took the detour to Panda's! Here's a little blog inside a blog:
I think this may be the image Big L sees when he dies, this will be his "Bright white light" of sorts. Sad, but so very very true!
Here the boys are enjoying their food:
If we lived next to a Panda Express, this is what my breakfast, lunch, and dinner plate for all the boys would look like.... So very very sad! VERY!
After our quick stop for orange chicken and gas, we were back on the road. We drove past the "Gateway Arch", and Big L insisted that I needed to take a picture of it. So 10 pictures later, I finally got one good enough to post. I also took a picture of the bridge we went over, just for fun.
Around 10 PM we finally decided to call it a night and look for a hotel room. We found a really good price at a Hampton with 2 queen sized beds. I just have to put a side note that I'm so very thrilled that we bough our king sized bed, I don't remember queen beds being so tiny! We finally got the boys showered, dressed, and sleeping. We actually got them in one bed together! Shocking! They slept very well, and didn't wake up until 7:30 the next morning, wonderful!
After a quick shower, drive through breakfast from the FABULOUS McDonalds, a stop for gas, we were again back on the road. We stopped in at Chipotle (a suggestion from Sam and Katrina) for lunch- sorry, didn't catch any pictures of lunch, but I was not impressed with the food. We finally arrived at Big L's Dad's house at 1:30 PM, almost 25 hours after we left TN. UGH! Now all I can think about is the return trip home, YIKES!
Yeah, you made...now it's time to start counting down the minutes until you hit the Mall of America. Take many, many pics :) Before you know it, you'll be on your way home. Hopefully the boys will sing song at the top of their lungs and scream for Calliou. Maybe Big L will lecture you on the current state of the Union and how we are living in a socialist country, too. Ah...the the recipe for the best road trip ever :)
ReplyDeleteWow...sounds like a fun trip. At least Big L let you stop and stay at a hotel. James would have wanted to drive straight through. Movies in the car, best thing ever invented! Hope you guys have a fun time with the family. If you go to Mall of America...take lots of pictures...I'm jealous!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh, Hailey's auntie got her Citizen of Humanity Jeans at Mall of America!! Feel free to add to her couture collection while you are there, hahaha! And Moe's . . . way better than Chipotle!! Don't listen to them :) Hope ya'll have a good trip back, feel free to text or call if you get bored, K is in the field so Hailey will be driving me to insanity ;)
ReplyDeleteOhh, Mall of America. I have dreams of going there one day. Perhaps I can talk the husband into taking a minor detour from Michigan to Minnesota. Enjoy your vacation!
