Paint Party

For the 2nd year now I have given the boys an art project of decorating a canvas board to hang up in their bedroom. It was way too cold to do this project outside, so I set up a cheap table cloth and had them do it on the hardwoods in the living room. Of course I used washable paints, just in case they got a little crazy with the artwork! They did very well though, we only had one accident of a run away paintbrush, but a quick wipe with a wet paper towel and it was clean once again. I even got a video of the painting fun, but will have to add it to a new post after I publish this one.

So after some encouragement from Mommy the boys really got into the painting on their bodies thing. Then all on their own they got into a paint war. Thankfully there were no tears in the end, so it was a happy day in the end!

I made the boys some cut out cookies to decorate a couple of nights ago, recipe courtesy of Amy! The next day after the cookies had cooled I got out a couple of bowls and put a bunch of the sugar sparkles, and sprinkles, and some candy from halloween into them. I thought the boys eyes were going to bug out of their heads! It took about an hour for them to decorate 6 cookies, but they loved every second. Surprisingly they didn't make that much of a mess! I don't know what they enjoyed more, the decorating of the cookies, or the eating...... I guess they both have their own upsides! I think after they finished decorating the cookies they weighed at least another 5lbs then what they started off as! Handful after handful of sprinkles, and sparkles were thrown on each cookie. We are definitely keeping the dentists of the world in business!!

Barrus Bowling Bonanza

We decided one day to take the boys out bowling. I have taken the in the past by myself, and it always seemed to be very difficult! The very last time I went X peed in his pants twice, and Little L wouldn't stop picking up the balls and dropping them dangerously close to his toes! It was a lot to deal with, and since I'm pregnant now I knew there was no way I could deal with the 2 of them on my own. Grandma was in town though, so it was a great time to try bowling out again. Little L still tried to pick the balls up every 2 seconds, although this time he wasn't dropping them on his feet. He was to busy trying to bowl on every one's turn! He just didn't get the concept of waiting his own turn, and he made sure that the entire bowling alley knew it! X thankfully didn't pee his pants this time, so it was a decent trip to the bowling alley! I just got to keep taking them and they'll get better.... Or at least I'm hoping!

Pfunky griddle

So Grandma came into town to visit us for a couple of weeks. After we picked her up from the airport we decided to try out a restaurant that Sam has been raving about for forever. It's the Pfunky Griddle in Nashville. Obviously as you can tell from the pictures, the concept of the place is to cook your own breakfast at the table. The boys were fascinated with everything! Of course that turned out badly since they both kept trying to touch the hot griddle! Thankfully I had a second set of hands to help keep little fingers from sizzling! The waitress unfortunately brought out 4 spatulas, which if she had thought it through wasn't the greatest idea for a 3 year old and 2 year old, but she was young, so I forgive her. At the end of breakfast we let the boys make a few pancakes since we weren't planning on eating them anyways, and it didn't matter how they turned out! They did pretty good, with a little help of course! The food wasn't the greatest, and for the price you pay its a lot more work then I'd like to put into it! Sam was appalled that I didn't enjoy it as much as she did! :)

GOAL!!

So it was a nice day in November, so we thought we'd take the kids to the park. I remembered I had a soccer ball in the trunk of the car, so I pulled that out for the kids to play with. They had a blast!!! They all took turns crying over the fact that the other ones had the ball and they didn't, but for the most part, we walked away with no broken bones, or any blood!

The Barrus Boys get a haircut

So I decided that it was finally time to get the boys a trim. EVERY.SINGLE.TIME I have taken X to get a haircut, I've hated the result! I explained very carefully to the people what I expected out of the haircuts, I wanted to keep the length on both boys, but lighten up the heaviness of X's hair, and take away the "white trash" mullet on Little L's hair. I made Sam stay with X while I stayed with Little L so that she could keep an eye on the hair stylist so that she didn't pull out the buzzers and give him a high and tight, similar to the high and tight incident of '07!

X was NOT amused with the haircut, for days he'd been claiming that he didn't want a hair cut because it would "hurt"! The girl even gave them a lollipop, and X still wasn't having any of it! He cried and wailed the whole time that the girl was cutting his hair. The worst 10 minutes of his life I can only assume!

The finished product of the haircuts. X still wasn't happy about the haircut, much less with Mommy making him take "after" pictures. Its hard to tell a real difference in the hair because unfortunately I forgot to take some "before" pictures.

So Little L continued his escapes from his crib, climbing out EVERY.SINGLE.TIME I put him to bed. Such a pain! Finally I decided to just transfer him to a toddler bed, this way I didn't have to worry about him falling head first off the top of his railing. Look how proud of his new bed he is! So the first couple of nights he stayed in his bed, but since then we've been sharing a bed, me and Little L!
