Trick or treat "potty"!

We ended up going trick or treating with a friend from Big L's old team this year. When we got to the house X decided that he wasn't in a good mood and that he'd like to go home. I think he was upset when we got there and none of his familiar friends were there. Plus there were a gaggle of young teen boys running around the house dressed in different costumes, one with a wolf mask, which was none to appealing to the boys. X said he didn't want to get into his costume, that he just wanted to go home. I warned him that it would mean he wouldn't be getting any candy. He told me he didn't care, he didn't want candy. I told him to suck it up because Little L wanted candy, and he wasn't going to ruin it for him. So i took the boys outside so that X's whining didn't annoy the other people in the house. He was in his costume at that point, refusing to put on his mask, and also in a horrendous mood!

Little L on the other hand was thrilled to be going to a trick or treat "potty" (party). He was also very excited to be wearing his "gunkey" costume, although his daddy said he "looked gay".....Whatever that means for a 2 year old!

We headed to our first few houses, and all of a sudden a light switched on in that little head of X's and he decided that trick or treating was probably the greatest invention since sliced bread!
He was off and running with his new friend Bo, running up and down the streets, knocking on doors, ringing bells if they didn't answer quick enough, and definitely not waiting for his little brother to catch up before moving on towards the next house.

We stayed out for almost 2 hours, but I was exhausted from carrying Little L around all night, so I had to call it short. Poor Little L was not feeling well, and as it turned out later that night after a trip to the ER that he had every right to feel badly. He was sent home diagnosed with Croup. The following monday I took him to be rechecked by his own personal Dr. and it turned out that he also had another ear infection, exactly 2 weeks after his last one.
The boys certainly have been enjoying their candy for dessert, and have been talking about going trick or treating every day since that night!
